Savannah arts academy was established in 1999 as a Specialty school and is part of the Savannah-Chatham county public school system. Enrollment is based on specific academic criterion, as well as a successful audition in the desired major.
Greetings from the John Philip Sousa Band Hall in Washington, DC! We have a wonderful opportunity for you to share with your students. "The President's Own" United States Marine Band, in conjunction with the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation, is pleased to announce its annual concerto competition for high school musicians. The winner will appear as a guest soloist with the U.S. Marine Band and receive a $2,500 scholarship from the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation. The runner up will receive a $500 scholarship. Please encourage your students to apply!

The Savannah Trombone Choir will begin rehearsaing on Monday, September 10th. High school trombone players are eligible to join; please contact Mark Spradley ([email protected]) if you are interested. All SAA flute players will have a MasterClass on Friday, August 24th from 2:50pm - 3:40pm. The session will be held in the band room and students should be picked up by 4:15pm.
Our first PTSA meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 21st at 6:30pm in the auditorium. Following the General Session, we will break into our department meetings. Information for the Spring Trip to New York will be given at that time.
Hope to see everyone then! The first day of school is tomorrow, Thursday August 2nd! Band students do NOT need to bring instruments this Thursday/Friday (August 2nd/3rd). See the concert attire information below. The first concert of the school year will take place mid September.
Due to low registration numbers, the Thursday, July 19th Advanced Band Practice and the Friday, July 20th Incoming 9th Grade will be postponed.
