Savannah arts academy was established in 1999 as a Specialty school and is part of the Savannah-Chatham county public school system. Enrollment is based on specific academic criterion, as well as a successful audition in the desired major.
Our chair placement tests (for Advanced Band and Beginning Band students) are going to take place this Friday!
Students should make sure that they have the correct etudes and requirements (listed below) Beginning Band - 1st four measures of the technical portion 2019-2020 GMEA All-State Concert Band (9-10) Etude Advanced Band - 1st 8 measures of the technical portion of the 2019-2020 GMEA All-State Concert Band (9-10) Etude **All percussionists should work on the 1st 4 bars of the uptempo section of the snare and mallet etude All Etudes can be found on the GMEA Website: https://www.gmea.org/asb-audition-information District Honor Band auditions for high school students will be held at South Effingham High School on Saturday, December 8th.

More Volunteers are need for the chicken dinner even on Friday, November 9th, to run smoothly. More help is needed specifically from 11:00-1:30 and only 1/2 of those needed for the other time slots are on the schedule. Please consider helping out if you have any time to spare on Friday, November 9th.

There will be a variety of exhibitors, clinic sessions, masterclasses, and performances. All participants will play in the saxophone choir and high school soloists and quartets are invited to perform in the masterclass. Registration Deadline is February 1st and everything is included in the $40 registration fee (t-shirt, lunch, music, etc.)

Please consider volunteering to help collect chicken dinner money before school this week and early next week (7:15-8:15). Our annual Chicken Dinner Fundraiser is under way! Please support the band and our band program by purchasing a ticket from any band student or parent. Parent: PLEASE help get the word out! Update: The Jazz Band Concert Scheduled for tomorrow Thursday, October 11 will now be Postponed to a later date as all SCCPSS schools will be closed.
